The Knotting Art at Her Fingertips

Chen Xia, an enthusiast of knotting art in Huantai County, fell in love with the craft as a child under the influence of her dexterous and skillful grandmother. As she grew older, her passion for knotting deepened into an obsession. She visited folk knotting artists on multiple occasions, learning from their strengths and making rapid progress in her skills. Years of accumulated experience led Chen Xia to realize that this craft could not only support her family but also be pursued as a career. In 2000, she began recruiting students in large numbers, passing on her techniques to help more people understand and carry forward this traditional Chinese cultural art.
