11月22日22时03分迎来中国二十四节气里的小雪节气。

At 22:03 on November 22nd comes the Minor Snow in the 24 solar terms.

这也是冬季的第二个节气。“小雪”是反映天气现象的节令。此时虽寒气渐重，但尚未到漫天飞雪的严冬，故称为小雪。

This is also the second solar term in winter. “Minor Snow” reflects climate and other natural phenomena of a season. It is called Minor Snow because at that time, it has not yet reached the harsh winter of flying snow, though it is colder over days.

闭塞成冬 气寒将雪

Yin goes down and Yang up as winter comes.

古人敏锐地察觉到小雪之后雨下而为寒气所薄，故凝而为雪，而“小”恰如其分地描绘出降雪的时间与强度。

The ancients were keenly aware that the rain condensed into snow when falling during Minor Snow because of cold air. And “Minor” appropriately describes the time and intense of the snow.

在小雪节气里，北风成为齐鲁大地的常客，气温逐渐降到0℃以下，但大地仍积有热能，尚未全然寒冷下来。古人将小雪渐变的气候分为三个层次：一候虹藏不见，由于气温降低，北方以下雪居多，那雨后彩虹便不见了；二候天气上升、地气下降，这导致天地不通，万物渐渐隐藏了生机；三候闭塞而成冬，大地少见青绿色，天地闭塞而渐渐转入寒冬。

During the Minor Snow, the north wind is a frequent visitor to the Shandong province. The temperature gradually dropped below 0℃,whereas the earth has not yet completely cooled down, still heating in it. The ancients divided Minor Snow into three phases: during the first five days, rainbows disappear as it is cold outside and snowy days are frequent in northern China; during the second five days, Yang starts going up and Yin down which means the movements of them are stopped. As a result, all living things hide their vitality; during the third five days, Yin goes down to the earth and Yang up resulting in the coming of winter days. The forests nearly turn withered.

小雪初寒 期盼丰年

A good harvest in the next year is expected during Minor Snow.

对农人来说，雪似故人来，会有好兆头。可以说，看到下雪，农人对来年丰产便有了信心。看到雪落，农人也不停下劳作的脚步，想趁年底多做一些预备工作，以期对来年的丰收多一些把握。

To farmers, snow is an old friend as it brings good signs. Seeing the snow, they would be confident in next year’s bumper harvest. They would not stop working in the fields to make preparations at the end of the year so as to be more certain about the good harvest next year.

眼下，山东多地的大棚中，新农人们依旧闲不住，反季蔬菜、大棚瓜果、电商物流、农旅文创等现代农业新业态，让他们忙得不亦乐乎。火龙果、西红柿、泡椒、草莓等农产品迎来大丰收，农人正做好采收、御寒、管理等工作。

At present, famers mastering new technologies and management are still busy working in the greenhouses in many areas of Shandong province. They are busy with new business forms of modern agriculture such as out-of-season vegetables, melons and fruits of greenhouses, e-commerce logistics, agricultural tourism and cultural and creative industries. They are doing a good job in harvesting, cold prevention, management as pitaya, tomatoes, pickled pepper, strawberries and other agricultural products is welcoming a bumper harvest.

冬腊风腌 蓄以御冬

Preserve food for winter use by curing and sousing.

山东各地农人对小雪的感受，还天然地跟“当家菜”——大白菜联系在一起。

The feelings of farmers in various parts of Shandong towards Minor Snow are also naturally linked with the “major vegetable” - Chinese cabbage.

在北方，人们在小雪节气时，把大白菜、萝卜、土豆等存入地窖，或腌制咸菜，或积为酸菜；在南方，不少人家则开始动手做香肠、腊肉，春节前后，举家共享珍馐。山东靠海吃海的人们，则要晒鱼干，一串串海味挂在阳光底下，北风呼啸中晒出一个丰盛的年尾。

During Minor Snow, in northern China, people store Chinese cabbage, radish, potatoes and other vegetables in the cellar and make them into pickles or Chinese sauerkraut; in southern China, people start making sausages and cured meat, and around the Spring Festival, the whole family will share the delicacies. Fishermen in Shandong begin to dry fish. With strings of seafood hanging in the sunlight, they will harvest a bumper year end in the howling north wind.

此时，约上三两好友，围炉夜话，最是温暖惬意。在这大地冰封的时节里，让我们保持对生活的热爱和对未来的期许，彼此珍重。

At this time, having several friends to chat around a stove at night is the most warm and comfortable. During this frozen season, let us maintain our love for life and expectations for the future, and treasure each other.

小雪初至 打卡山东

Visit Shandong at early arrival of Minor Snow.

初冬的青岛，栈桥海域千鸥共舞，对于渐入冬天的青岛而言，这是特有的“雪景”。

In early winter, thousands of gulls fly gracefully around Zhanqiao sea area. This is a unique “snow scene” for Qingdao, the place which is gradually entering winter.

荣成，每到秋末冬初，成群结队的大天鹅不远万里来此越冬。荣成市大天鹅国家级自然保护区湿地内，大天鹅在朝阳下嬉戏、飞舞，吸引众多游人前来打卡。

In Rongcheng, every late autumn and early winter, flocks of swans come here from thousands of miles away to overwinter. In Wetland of Rongcheng Swan National Nature Reserve, swans play and flutter under the sunrise, attracting many tourists to come and watch.

山东海岸线绵延3024.4公里，占全国海岸线的六分之一。近年来，随着山东生态环境逐渐向好，越来越多水鸟飞来山东过冬。随着天气趋冷，山东海岸线上这些老朋友的身影渐渐多了起来。

The coastline of Shandong stretches for 3024.4 kilometers, accounting for one sixth of the China’s coastline. In recent years, with the gradual improvement of the ecological environment in Shandong, more and more water birds have flown here for the winter. As the weather gets colder, the presence of these old friends along the coast of Shandong is gradually increasing.
