As the "Hometown of Chinese Liuli Glass", Boshan carries openness and inclusiveness in its cultural DNA. Zhao Ziyu, a Boshan-born engineer, brings the warmth and craftsmanship of his hometown to the land of Uzbekistan. With electricity as his brush and culture as his ink, he writes a dialogue of civilizations between Boshan and the world, becoming a civilian envoy for cultural exchange between China and foreign countries. Three years ago, Zhao Ziyu traveled far to Uzbekistan to devote himself to the construction of local livelihood power projects such as photovoltaic power generation and energy storage. Upon his arrival in a foreign land, the barriers of language and diet made him homesick. Yet the simplicity and enthusiasm of the local people gradually turned this nostalgia into driving force. In his spare time, he never forgot that he is a "promoter" of Boshan culture, and took the initiative to bring the flavors and culture of his hometown to this pearl along the Silk Road. Last Mid-Autumn Festival, Zhao Ziyu brought local Boshan specialties such as beef jerky and Chinese prickly ash sprout pickles to share with his Uzbek colleagues in the project team. After tasting them, one local colleague asked in surprise: "What magical flavor is this? It has both the aroma of meat and a unique taste—it’s absolutely delicious!" Zhao Ziyu replied with a smile: "These are special delicacies from our hometown Boshan. Every bite carries the warmth of daily life there. You must visit Boshan someday to taste more authentic Shandong cuisine." He also brought exquisite and crystal-clear Boshan Liuli pendants. These intangible cultural heritage treasures, embodying thousands of years of craftsmanship, fascinated his local colleagues. At work, he integrated the Boshan spirit of "being rigorous, pragmatic and striving for excellence" into every procedure, patiently guiding the local construction team. The person in charge of the local power department praised sincerely: "The 'meticulousness' of Chinese engineers gives us complete confidence!" From Boshan Liuli to Shandong delicacies, from power technology to craftsmanship spirit, Zhao Ziyu has helped Boshan culture cross mountains and seas and take root in the hearts of the Uzbek people through his deeds. He is not only a steadfast builder in power construction, but also a disseminator of Boshan culture. With ordinary efforts, he has built a bridge between Boshan and the world, deepening the millennia-old Silk Road friendship through cultural integration.
