Shandong green transformation conference promotes low-carbon future

A conference on green transformation and social responsibility was held in Jinan, East China's Shandong province, on April 13, aiming to support the province's mission as a national pilot zone for green, low-carbon, high-quality development.

The conference systematically presented Shandong's achievements in green transformation and social responsibility, building broad consensus for a zero-carbon future.

Dai Yande, former director of the Energy Research Institute under China's National Development and Reform Commission, delivered a keynote speech on new energy systems and industrial opportunities under carbon neutrality. He focused on energy restructuring, industrial upgrading, and technological innovation.

Several local enterprises, including State Grid Shandong Economic Research Institute, Shandong Taikai DC Technology, Yunding Technology, Sinopec Qingdao Refining and Chemical, and Shandong Iron and Steel Group, showcased their innovations in platform development, technological breakthroughs, artificial intelligence applications, and low-carbon practices.

A high-level dialogue explored the pathways and opportunities for Shandong's green transition during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–30), where participants discussed collaborative mechanisms to achieve carbon goals.

In a case study session, Huadian Shandong New Energy, Jinan Energy Group, and Jigang Engineering and Technology shared practical examples, including the ecological restoration of mines, cross-regional energy coordination, and supercritical carbon dioxide power generation technology.

Pan Wenge, former Party branch secretary of Yucun village in Anji county, Zhejiang province – the birthplace of the "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" concept – shared experiences that inspire Shandong's eco-friendly development.
