Zichuan: Swimmer Wang Tao Competes in the Maldives

On April 9, Wang Tao, a swimming enthusiast from Zichuan, was invited to compete in the 2026 OCEANMAN Open Water Swimming Tour in the Maldives. Against the backdrop of the blue skies and turquoise waters of Maafushi Island, he challenged himself and showcased his sporting spirit.

OCEANMAN is the world’s largest open water swimming tour, spanning over 30 countries across five continents. It serves as a premier international platform for amateur swimming enthusiasts. The Maldives leg of the event, set in the region’s crystal-clear waters and stunning seascapes, offered multiple race categories that balanced competitiveness with experiential enjoyment.

Wang Tao prepared diligently for the event and took part in top form. Ultimately, he achieved an excellent third-place finish. Competing alongside swimmers from around the world on this international stage, he not only demonstrated the vitality and strength of mass sports in Zichuan but also promoted the concept of healthy living through swimming. His participation helped foster people-to-people cultural and sports exchanges between China and the world, adding a touch of local spirit from Zichuan.
