风连五洲·四海筝鸣丨法国雕塑艺术家：来杨家埠学做风筝 运用“天圆地方”理念

在国际风筝锦标赛现场，海报新闻记者见到了Milana Gabriel。她是法国的一名雕塑艺术家，带来了一个外形奇特的风筝——看起来像一个白色的盒子。来听听她如何讲述她的设计理念。

“我从中国传统文化中得到的灵感。”她告诉记者，“方形代表大地，圆形代表天空——我把对中国文化的理解翻译成了这只风筝的形状。”

Milana获得了一个基金会的研究生资助，专程来中国进行关于风筝与工艺的人类学研究。在朋友的推荐下，她来到了潍坊杨家埠，向当地匠人学习传统风筝制作。

“我原本想解决技术问题，但根本无法与有30年经验的大师相比。”她坦言，扎制传统风筝需要学习太多东西——切割竹子的尺寸、理解风的原理，而她能学习的时间并不充足。

Milana本身是一位雕塑家，她带来的风筝更像一件雕塑品。风筝上还嵌入了传统乐器，因为她热爱中国传统音乐。“我很高兴它飞起来了，在空中看到它感觉真好。”她说，在法国，风筝更多用于军事目的，而非节庆，“中国有更悠久、更丰富的风筝文化。”

从法国到中国山东潍坊，这只“不太传统”的风筝，正载着一位艺术家的热爱与好奇，飞向更广阔的天空。

At the International Kite Championship, a reporter from Haibao News met Milana Gabriel, a French sculptor who brought a peculiar-looking kite—it appeared like a white box. Listen to her explain her design concept.

"I drew inspiration from traditional Chinese culture," she told the reporter. "The square represents the earth, and the circle represents the sky—I translated my understanding of Chinese culture into the shape of this kite."

With a postgraduate research grant from a foundation, Milana came to China specifically to conduct anthropological research on kites and craftsmanship. Recommended by her friend, she arrived at Yangjiabu in Weifang to learn traditional kite making from local artisans.

"I originally wanted to solve technical problems, but I simply couldn't compare with masters who have 30 years of experience," she admitted. Making traditional kites requires learning so much—the dimensions for cutting bamboo, understanding the principles of wind—and her time for learning was insufficient.

As a sculptor herself, Milana's kite resembles more of a sculptural piece. The kite also incorporates traditional musical instruments, as she has a passion for traditional Chinese music. "I'm glad it flew—seeing it in the air felt wonderful," she said. In France, kites are more often used for military purposes rather than festivals. "China has a much longer and richer kite culture."

From France to Weifang, Shandong, China, this "not-so-traditional" kite is carrying an artist's love and curiosity, flying toward a broader sky.
