Shandong has 20 selected metaverse projects, accounting for over 10 percent of national total

Shandong has secured 20 entries on China’s 2025 list of typical metaverse cases, accounting for more than 10% of the total, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The 193 cases, identified through recommendations from local authorities and related institutions, expert review and public notification, span areas including digital human avatars, products, parks and standards. Shandong’s selected cases include the AI-powered digital human for the printing industry developed by Shandong Inspur Intelligent Production Technology Co., Ltd., the customer service digital human“Xiao Rui” developed by Qingdao Qianrui Shulian Information Technology Co., Ltd., and the digital-twin intelligent operation and maintenance system by Qufu Hengwei Water Machinery Co., Ltd.

First popularized in science fiction, the metaverse has gained traction thanks to advances in VR and AR technologies, prompting tech and gaming companies to explore its applications for competitive advantage. The initiative will promote the selected cases through sharing sessions and supply-demand matchmaking events to drive real-world application and adoption.
