Zichuan :International Ceramic Association Visits Zichuan for Ceramic Art Exchange

On June 20, the International Ceramic Association's "China Tour" event made a stop at the Yuanyao Wood-Firing Studio in Zichuan.

Ceramic artists from India and Denmark observed the ancient Lu-style wood-firing intangible cultural heritage techniques on site, gaining an in-depth understanding of the ceramic production process and temperature-control methods. They combined their respective national artistic styles and cultural elements to shape, mold, and refine clay, completing a series of ceramic bisques, each with distinct regional characteristics. Ji Guangyuan, the inheritor of the Yuanyao tradition, accompanied the artists throughout the process, providing detailed explanations on the properties of local clay and the key points of pine-wood firing temperature control. He also recorded the creative concepts behind each piece, after which all works were placed into the kiln to be fired by Yuanyao using traditional ancient wood-firing techniques.

In wood firing, the natural ash deposits create unique kiln-transformed glaze colors, so that every finished piece embodies both the charm of Eastern kiln fire and the expressive artistry of foreign cultures. This event used clay and kiln fire as a platform for international exchange, allowing overseas ceramic artists to deeply experience Zibo's thousand-year-old ceramic heritage, promoting mutual integration of Chinese and foreign ceramic concepts, and further enhancing Zichuan's cultural reputation in wood-fired ceramics.
