French Friend Experiences Lampworking Glass Craft in Zichuan

On October 8, French friend Morey visited the Zhenhua Glass Industrial Tourism Base in Longquan Town, Zichuan District, to get an up-close experience of Zibo’s glass culture and personally try the craft of lampworking glass.

At the lampworking experience workshop, an intangible cultural heritage craftsman introduced Morey to this traditional technique hailed as “sculpture in fire,” and demonstrated the entire process of heating glass rods with a high-temperature flame and shaping them through techniques such as rotating, winding, and pinching. Under the craftsman’s guidance, Morey held a glass rod and carefully heated and softened it in the flame, trying to adjust its shape. He personally experienced the difficulty of controlling the heat and immersed himself in the unique fun of handmade glass.

The dazzling glass exhibits left Morey full of admiration. He said that Zibo glass integrates craftsmanship and aesthetics, and it is deeply impressive.
