On July 3rd, Li Zixuan, a 21-year-old girl from Pingdu, Qingdao, Shandong Province, who has lived with paraplegia since the age of eight, successfully summited Mount Song—the third peak of her ongoing Five Great Mountains challenge. She had previously summited Mount Tai and Mount Hua, making Mount Song her third milestone on this journey.At the age of eight, a car accident claimed her father’s life and left her paralyzed from the waist down. As her father had loved hiking all his life, she resolved to conquer the Five Great Mountains, keeping a photo of her father and her by her side on every climb. Through this journey, she strives to tell her father: “Even though I cannot stand, I can still live a full and meaningful life.”On the steep stone steps, she propels herself forward using only her arms, while tourists and passers-by cheer her on. This journey has healed her and inspired countless others.
