Launch Ceremony for Joint Scientific Expedition in the South China Sea Featuring a 4,500-Meter-Class Deep-Sea Robot with 100% Domestic Components Held at Weihai Port

On September 28, 2026, a ceremony was held at Weihai Port to mark the launch of the first batch of mass-produced 150-horsepower and 250-horsepower heavy-duty work-class ROVs for a scientific expedition in the South China Sea. The equipment was independently developed by Shandong Future Robotics Co., Ltd., which will conduct joint scientific research operations in collaboration with Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai). With over 10,000 components manufactured domestically, the robots have overcome technical barriers, marking a significant breakthrough in China's efforts to achieve self-reliance in high-end deep-sea equipment.
