Cold Dew Today: Autumn Deep, Dew Heavy, Chill Intensifying

Today marks the arrival of Cold Dew, the 17th of China's traditional 24 solar terms. As the fifth solar term of autumn, the arrival of Cold Dew signals the transition from cool to cold weather, officially beginning late autumn. After Cold Dew begins, the subsolar point continues to move southward, and the amount of solar heat received by the Northern Hemisphere decreases significantly. The frequency of cold air moving southward increases, and the temperature difference between day and night widens further, showing a marked pattern of "warm days and cool nights."
