Recently, as temperatures gradually dropped, the first batch of overwintering migratory birds arrived in the Yellow River beach area of Dongming, marking the timely start of the local autumn-winter migratory bird season. As the first stop after the Yellow River enters Shandong, Dongming County has more than 11,000 hectares of wetlands within its jurisdiction. It lies on a migratory bird route and serves as an important refueling stopover for birds migrating south.

According to monitoring, the first batch of wild geese was spotted arriving in the Yellow River beach area of Dongming on September 30. As temperatures continue to fall, more wild geese are expected to come here to overwinter. Notably, the wild geese arrived about a week earlier than in previous years.

To protect migratory birds and improve their habitat, local authorities have established a dual management and protection model combining technology and human patrols. High-definition monitoring equipment has been deployed to conduct 24-hour intelligent monitoring, identification and counting of bird activity in the wetlands. At the same time, regular manual patrols are carried out to promptly discourage all kinds of behavior that disturbs the birds, making every effort to safeguard their wintering habitat.

As the migration season progresses, migratory birds such as great bustards, swans and grey cranes are expected to arrive in the Yellow River beach area of Dongming one after another, soon presenting a magnificent ecological scene of countless birds gathering.
