Recently, with the gradual decline in temperature, the first batch of winter migratory birds has arrived at the Yellow River beach area in Dongming, marking the arrival of the local autumn and winter migratory bird migration season as scheduled. As the first stop for the Yellow River upon entering Shandong, Dongming County boasts a wetland area of over 11,000 hectares and is located on the migratory route of migratory birds, serving as an important supply station for migratory birds during their southward journey.
According to monitoring, the first batch of geese was first spotted migrating to the Yellow River beach area in Dongming on September 30th. As temperatures continue to drop, it is expected that more geese will come here to spend the winter. It is noteworthy that this year, the geese arrived about a week earlier than in previous years.
To protect migratory birds and optimize their habitat environment, the local authorities have established a dual management and protection model combining "technology and human defense". High-definition monitoring equipment has been installed to conduct 24-hour intelligent monitoring, identification, and statistics of wetland migratory bird activities. Meanwhile, regular manual patrols are carried out to promptly discourage any behavior that may disturb the birds, fully safeguarding their wintering habitat environment.
As the migration season continues, it is expected that migratory birds such as great bustards, swans, and grey cranes will arrive at the Dongming Yellow River Beach area in succession, unveiling an ecological scene of thousands of birds gathering and flying.
